Chef’s kiss! Food was 10/10! I left very pleasantly surprised after ordering the Mabo & Curry rice and the salmon roll. Both the meal and the sushi were super delicious, fresh and arrived quickly after ordering even though the place was packed. I’ll definitely be heading back soon to try the Ton Katsu Don meal and try more of their sushi. Super worth it, you won’t regret coming here. Parking is a little hard but that’s valid for the whole area.

Delicious authentic Japanese food with some Japanese-American options. After 9pm there is a happy hour menu that has amazing deals (cali roll for $6 I think). Always happy to support a family run business.

Chopstix is the closest thing you’d get to a Japanese experience in San Diego. My favorite dish is the mabo/curry combo with chicken Katsu. The katsu is crispy and light. And the curry & mabo are both comfort and will put you to sleep. The dish is quite big, I usually can’t finish it especially since it comes with salad and miso. The vibe is that of a Japanese restaurant but much bigger in size. Everyone who works there is Japanese and I often find guests who are learning Japanese practice it there. The staff is friendly and sharp. The shop is a hidden gem in convoys incredible food district. I feel guilt sharing this because I want it to stay low-key but the respect has to be given for the incredible food. I visited Japan last year in November. Although the sites were amazing, the city was vibrant and the culture was so different and unique, the highlight of my trip was the food. I have to tell you guys the food in japan is incredible. The eggs are like nothing you’ve tasted. The meats are so tender and clean. And all the vegetables taste organic and home grown. And chopstix is the closest thing to it!
